Qué maravilla de interior, con esos maravillosos baquets, el salpicadero recubierto de alcántara, la jaula...

Lo único que me disgusta de la versión gorda es el aleronaco.

 

Lo que habría estado bien es un ensanchado de aletas en condiciones, tipo 1M/M2, y no esos aletines negros.

 

Ah, amigo! Es que lo que hace Audi en los RS o BMW en los M tocando anchura cuesta un pastizal solamente en el desarrollo, simulación, fabricación y puesta a punto de nuevos utillajes y piezas de chapa, que por lo general suelen afectar al lateral (la pieza más grande de la carrocería) y a la puerta trasera si es berlina. Un vambio en la aleta delantera es algo menos delicado al ser una pieza de menor tamaño y que no suele afectar a la puerta. De postre, toca modificar los revestimientos intreriores del paso de rueda.

En cambio, poner unos bacquets es cosa de ponerle delante un pliego de condiciones (incluye estilo) al proveedor y que se apañe.

The Alfa Romeo brand, 110 years after its foundation, renews its myth with a return to its origins, resurrecting one of the legends of motor racing and a milestone in its history: the Giulia GTA.
The new Giulia GTA is technically and conceptually inspired by the 1965 Giulia GTA: the "Lightened Gran Turismo Alleggerita" developed by Autodelta starting from the Giulia Sprint GT which collected sporting successes all over the world.

Giulia GTA derives from Giulia Quadrifoglio and is equipped with an enhanced version of the Alfa Romeo 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine, with 540 hp. Thanks to the extended adoption of ultra-light materials, it benefits from a weight reduction of 100 kg compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio, reaching the weight/power ratio of 2.82 kg/hp that makes it best in class.
In addition, specific technical solutions have also been developed for aerodynamics, trim and handling.

On the occasion of this historic presentation, the famous GTAm variant, protagonist on the Geneva stand, was also in the spotlight: an extreme version of the GTA, featuring two dry seats, roll bar and 6-point belts, 100% "street legal".

An acronym with a legendary flavour: GTA
The acronym GTA stands for "Gran Turismo Alleggerita" and was born in 1965 with the Giulia Sprint GTA, a specific version derived from the Sprint GT, set up for sports homologation and presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show that year. The bodywork of the Giulia Sprint GT was replaced with an identical aluminium one, for a total weight of 745 kg against the 950 kg of the road version. A second modification concerned the twin-shaft 1570 cm3 engine, which in the road configuration, with double ignition, reached the remarkable power of 115 hp. The technicians of Autodelta, Alfa Romeo's official racing team, chose it as the reference car for the Tourism category, and developed it up to a maximum power of 170 hp. The success in the competitions was immediate: three consecutive "Challenge Europeo Marche", dozens of national championships and hundreds of individual races all over the world. And there was also a considerable return of image on the range: the Giulia Sprint GTA expressed at best the claim "one victory a day with the everyday car". From then on, the GTA entered the collective imagination as an undisputed icon of the sportsmanship of the Biscione and the strength of the abbreviation ended up pushing the public to identify Alfa Romeo sports cars in general with GTA.

The legend is renewed with technical solutions of excellence
At the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show, Alfa Romeo intends to overturn a few rules: it does not want to talk about history, especially the history it has written, and it does not want to receive birthday presents. It prefers to give one to all enthusiasts by presenting the Giulia GTA, which today represents an authentic return to Alfa Romeo's roots, those that sink into the world of performance and granturism.

Specific technical equipment and functional style
The Giulia GTA is immediately recognizable thanks to an exclusive characterization not only aesthetically but also functional to performance: the new Alfa Romeo are not an exercise in style, but high performance cars derived from a production model, the exceptional Giulia Quadrifoglio. Alfa Romeo engineers have worked to improve aerodynamics and handling, but above all to reduce weight: the same guidelines followed for the 1965 Giulia GTA. Active aerodynamics were specifically designed to increase the aerodynamic load. In these solutions you can find a technical know-how that comes directly from Formula 1 thanks to the synergy with Sauber Engineering and the use of the Sauber AeroKit. The same task is entrusted to the side skirts, the specific rear spoiler and the active front splitter. Also new are the Akrapovič titanium centre exhaust system integrated in the carbon fibre rear diffuser and specific 20-inch single-drive wheels, for the first time in a saloon. Handling has been improved by widening the front and rear tracks by 50 mm and developing a new set of springs, shock absorbers and bushings for the suspension systems. On GTAm, the aerodynamic front end has been extensified with the use of an oversized front splitter and a true carbon rear wing, which guarantee an increase and optimal load balance at high speed. As far as performance is concerned, the Alfa Romeo 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine, made entirely of aluminium and capable of delivering as much as 510 bhp in its standard configuration, reaches 540 bhp on the Giulia GTA, thanks to the meticulous development and calibration work carried out by Alfa Romeo engineers, who are also able to optimise the positive impact of the adoption of the new Akrapović titanium central exhaust system with its unmistakable sound. Moving into the cockpit, the Alcantara® upholstery on the dashboard, the door panels, the imperial, the side pillars and the central seat upholstery stand out. The use of Alcantara® is even more extensive on the GTAm version, where the elimination of the rear bench leaves room for a fully upholstered "bathtub", where there are specific shapes designed to house helmets and fire extinguisher. The new matt carbon inserts express technical and aesthetic refinement, giving distinctiveness to the new interior, which on GTAm differs not only for the presence of the rollbar, for the absence of door panels and rear seats, but also for the door opening with the ribbon instead of the handle, another touch typically inspired by the world of racing.

An excellent power-to-weight ratio
But power alone is not enough to guarantee extraordinary performance. Extremely accurate work on lightness has been taken to the extreme: the weight reduction amounts to around 100 kilograms thanks to the adoption of lightweight materials, such as carbon fibre for the drive shaft, bonnet, roof, front bumper, front wheel arches and rear wheel arches, specific sports seats with carbon monocoque and Sabelt 6-point belts for GTAm. There is no shortage of aluminium for the engine, doors and suspension systems and different composite materials for many other components. On GTAm the use of Lexan, a particular resin belonging to the polycarbonate family that comes directly from the world of motorsport, for the side and rear windows, further contributes to the lightening. The result is a weight of 1,520 kg, which, thanks to the increase in power to 540 hp, brings the weight/power ratio to an excellent level, 2.82 kg/hp, making Giulia GTA best in class and able to express extraordinary performance. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is lightning fast. Thanks to the Launch Control system, the stopwatch stops at just 3.6 seconds. The Giulia GTAm on the stand, unlike the GTA, has a two-seater configuration, but remains approved for road use, with a front and rear splitter in exposed carbon, the ultimate expression of sportiness. In the GTA configuration, with the same power, Giulia offers four seats, without rear roll-bar; spoiler and splitter optimized for daily use; door panels, seats and windows derived from the Giulia Quadrifoglio. The result is a supercar for everyday use.

Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and its extreme variant Giulia GTAm will be built in a limited series of 500 units in total, numbered and certified, ready to flank its 1965 ancestor among the most desired collector's items, not only to be admired but ready to unleash great power on the road thanks to the highly refined technical solutions. The same exclusivity of Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm will also characterize a dedicated and particularly exclusive customer experience, designed to give the 500 lucky owners a unique experience, 100% Alfa Romeo. After the advance bookings, now officially open and which will close at the 500th time, the sales process will be one-to-one, with a brand ambassador product specialist who will follow each customer from order to delivery. Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA 2020: 540 CV para la salvaje berlina italiana




También hay una versión GTAm, biplaza, con jaula y enfocada a un uso en circuito.
Con motivo de su 110 aniversario, el fabricante italiano Alfa Romeo nos tenía preparada una interesante sorpresa de cara al salón de Ginebra 2020 y, aunque finalmente la cita suiza se ha cancelado, ya sabemos de qué se trataba. Hablamos del regreso de una denominación mítica de la marca, el llamado Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita), que toma inspiración del icónico Giulia Sprint GTA original, de 1965, una versión derivada del Sprint GT, que alcanzaba los 170 CV de potencia y fue creada como un coche de homologación para la competición.

En este caso, el GTA está basado en el Alfa Romeo Giulia QV, y se presenta también en una versión más radical, el llamado GTAm. La producción de este nuevo Giulia GTA estará limitada a únicamente 500 ejemplares, aunque de momento nada se sabe sobre su precio o sobre cómo se repartirán dichas unidades entre los diferentes mercados.

540 CV para el 2.9 V6
Estas dos nuevas berlinas deportivas de la casa mantienen el motor del Giulia Quadrifoglio, es decir, un 2,9 litros V6, gasolina y biturbo, aunque ahora la potencia aumenta en 30 CV, para alcanzar los 540 CV (el QV ofrece 510 CV). Además, el comportamiento también se ha trabajado, ya que el GTA tiene unas vías delanteras y traseras ensanchadas en 50 milímetros con respecto al QV, y son de nuevo desarrollo tanto los amortiguadores como los muelles de la suspensión.

Gracias al nuevo poderío del seis cilindros, y al hecho de que el GTA pierde alrededor de 100 kilogramos con respecto al Giulia QV, para un total de 1.520 kilogramos, Alfa Romeo asegura que su salvaje berlina ofrece una relación entre peso y potencia de 2,82 kilogramos por caballo. El ahorro de peso se ha conseguido mediante el uso de fibra de carbono en elementos como el eje de transmisión, el capó, el techo o los pasos de rueda.

El resultado es una aceleración de 0 a 100 km/h en 3,6 segundos, es decir, tres décimas de segundo menos que el QV. Si bien Alfa Romeo no ha ofrecido ningún dato de par motor máximo, cabe apuntar que al menos en el QV, este 2.9 V6 ofrecía 600 Nm. Tampoco se habla de transmisión, pero lo lógico es que sea la misma ZF automática de ocho relaciones.


La colaboración con Sauber Engineering ha permitido el desarrollo de un kit aerodinámico específico para el Giulia GTA, conformado por faldones delanteros, un alerón trasero específico, agresivo difusor o un splitter delantero activo. El sistema de escape, con dos salidas centrales, es de titanio y está firmado por el especialista Akrapovic, mientras que las llantas son monotuerca y de 20 pulgadas.

En el habitáculo, por su parte, no falta una tapicería de Alcantara (que recubre el salpicadero, las puertas o los asientos), molduras en fibra de carbono con un acabado mate o unos asientos heredados directamente del Giulia QV.

Giulia GTAm, todavía más extremo
La variante GTAm va un paso más allá. Aunque es apta para circular por carretera, está pensada para un uso en circuito (una buena bestia para trackdays), y prescinde de los asientos traseros y de las molduras de las puertas, añade una jaula antivuelco, arneses de seis puntos y también equipa un kit aerodinámico más llamativo, con un alerón trasero más generoso, por ejemplo. Un detalle interesante es que los tiradores interiores de las puertas son de tela.

Los 500 afortunados que se hagan con un GTA o un GTAm, recibirán un kit de bienvenida que incluye un casco Bell con decoración especial GTA, un juego de ropa de competición firmado por Alpinestars (traje, guantes y zapatillas), una funda personalizada para el vehículo o una experiencia de conducción en circuito.

Son una evolución del Giulia Quadrifoglio. El GTA tiene cuatro plazas y el GTAm, dos. Comparten motor, de 540 caballos, preparación del chasis y modificaciones de la carrocería para mejorar sus cualidades dinámicas, pero el GTAm cuenta con ciertos elementos específicos para sacarle mayor partido en circuito.

Las dos versiones más deportivas y potentes del Giulia tienen la denominación Giulia GTA y Giulia GTAm (de cuatro y dos plazas, respectivamente). La producción está limitada a 500 unidades «en total», aunque Alfa Romeo no dice cuántas hará de cada una. El proceso de entrega incluye vestimenta de competición y una experiencia personalizada para el cliente. Por su particular filosofía, al estilo del MINI John Cooper Works GP o el Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy-R, actualmente no hay versiones tan radicales a la venta del Audi RS 4, el BMW M3 o el Mercedes-AMG C 63 S.

Las siglas GTA son una tradición en Alfa Romeo y significan Gran Turismo Alleggerita (gran turismo aligerado, empleado por primera vez en 1965 para el Giulia Sprint GTA). Reciben una evolución importante sobre la base de un Giulia Quadrifoglio que hace que la potencia del motor aumente hasta 540 caballos (30 CV más) y el peso del coche se reduzca en hasta 100 kilogramos. La versión GTAm, a la que Alfa Romeo se refiere como «extrema», tiene la misma preparación, pero cuenta con elementos particularmente útiles en circuito, aunque está homologado para circular por carretera. La tracción es a las ruedas traseras.




En la carrocería hay modificaciones importantes que afectan especialmente a la aerodinámica (de tipo activa) y a la anchura de las vías, 50 milímetros mayor en ambos ejes (por tanto quedan en 1600 mm delante y 1639 mm atrás). Son específicos los paragolpes delantero y trasero, las tomas de aire, el difusor, los alerones (el delantero tiene un mecanismo que lo mueve para aumentar la carga aerodinámica, y en el caso del GTAm tanto este como el trasero son más grandes que en el GTA), las taloneras, los pasos de rueda y las llantas con anclaje monotuerca. Muchas de estas piezas están fabricadas total o parcialmente en fibra de carbono. La suspensión recibe cambios de geometría, casquillos, muelles y amortiguadores.

El motor ha sido retocado para producir 30 caballos más, hasta los 540. Una de las modificaciones consiste en la instalación de un sistema de escape Akrapovic, hecho de titanio. Salpicadero y asientos (de tipo semibaquet en el GTA y baquet con chasis de carbono en el GTAm) han sido profusamente tapizados con Alcantara (un tejido que emula el acabado de las piezas flocadas que se usan en competición para evitar reflejos), material que en el GTAm se extiende también a la parte trasera (imagen), donde recubre la chapa desnuda que quedaría a la vista puesto que carece de segunda fila de asientos. En su lugar hay una semijaula metálica de protección antivuelco, donde van anclados unos arneses Sabelt de seis puntos de anclaje, y unos receptáculos para depositar dos cascos y el extintor (que van incluidos).



Para aligerar aún más peso en el GTAm también han sido eliminados los paneles de puerta traseros, sustituidos los tiradores de las puertas delanteras por unas cintas de tela y los marcos de las ventanillas son de policarbonato, al estilo de los coches de carreras. Alfa Romeo cita las prestaciones de esta versión, la más ligera, que pasa de 0 a 100 km/h en 3,6 segundos si se emplea el sistema Launch Control. El M3 CS de la anterior generación de Serie 3 (hasta que salga el nuevo modelo no tenemos otra referencia) aceleraba en 3,9 s, y el Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG C 63 S tarda 4,0 s.

El proceso de compra del coche comienza con la reserva anticipada, que ya está abierta. A partir de ese momento un asesor personal hace seguimiento de cada cliente hasta la entrega. Los propietarios recibirán con el coche un kit que incluye un casco Bell con los colores GTA, mono, guantes y calzado Alpinestars, una lona Goodwool para cubrir el coche (según sea GTA o GTAm, con la forma del alerón que corresponda) y un curso de conducción en la Academia de Conducción Alfa Romeo.
