Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre ‘S50B30’ straight-six featuring six individual bodies and BMW’s then newly developed ‘Vanos’ technology to produce around 295hp and 238lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via an engaging five-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays 125,888 kilometres (78,223 miles) from new. Number 132 of 356 cars produced, this left-hand drive example has been with its current and third owner for two years. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES The E36-generation M3 GT was built as a homologation exercise for the FIA GT Series, and the IMSA GT Series races. A mere 356 examples were produced in total, with each all finished in British Racing Green over a black and Mexico Green interior. Modifications above a standard E36 M3 included six separate throttle bodies, BMW’s then newly developed ‘Vanos’ technology and a 264° camshaft angle, creating an additional 13bhp over its standard siblings. All feature specially made front and rear spoilers, along with aerodynamically optimised door mirrors, M double-spoke aluminium forged wheels, white front indicator lenses, and lightweight aluminium doors. This example rides on the correct set of 17-inch forged alloy wheels, shod in Hankook Ventus V12 tyres. Factory-fitted equipment includes electric windows, an electrically adjustable steering column and door mirrors, dual-zone climate control, a cigarette lighter, and a trip computer. The only noted modification to this car is the addition of a K&N air filter. The car will be supplied with its original owner’s manuals, service booklet, and additional M3 GT-specific manual, as well as the original boot-mounted tool kit. CONDITION The British Racing Green paintwork is noted by the seller as being in generally excellent condition, and has been repainted. It generally presents an impressive lustre throughout, though the seller notes that there is some stone chipping on the front wings, a crack at the base of the rear spoiler, and scuffing on the bumper strip on the offside rear of the car. Stepping inside, there is light wear on the driver’s seat bolsters from ingress and egress, while elsewhere there are light signs of use, but with no obvious major wear. The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults, and they state that there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard. The car’s last inspection of roadworthiness (German TÜV) was conducted in November 2022, during which the seller reports that no warnings or advisory items were noted. SERVICE HISTORY This M3 GT’s latest service was carried out at 125,888 km by BMW Classic Group Munich. The work comprised of an ‘Inspection II’ service with renewal of the engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, gearbox oil, differential oil, and brake liquid. It also had a general body inspection. Prior to this, the car was serviced in March 2013 at 118,237 km by a BMW dealer. The service booklet has the following registers: 0 kms, 2146 kms, 34294 kms, 40280 kms, 56033 kms, 62002 kms, 84204 kms, 87071 kms, 98747 kms, 112863 kms, 118237 kms and 125888 kms. The seller notes that the tyres are brand new. SUMMARY This E36-generation BMW M3 GT is fine example of the limited-edition homologation special. Offered for sale in totally original condition and repainted to a high standard, this example is fresh from a major service and is ready to be driven.
