Anda que se van a comer la cabeza Vulgarmente hablando, el RS6 que acabo de poner en otro post , pero venido a menos para VW ... ainsss... ahora entiendo el Altea FR Me sigo quedando con Audi, of course ;-) VW's accomplished but slightly dull Passat is about to enter a different ballgame with the arrival of the R36 version. Due on sale in the spring of 2007, the hot Passat will be available in saloon and estate forms. The R36 will, like the Passat and Golf R32s, have a V6 engine and all-wheel drive. But the high-performance Passat's engine will have a capacity of 3.6 litres and peak output of around 280bhp, up from the 3.2-litre's 250bhp. Our spy shots suggest the Passat R36's body will be little changed from the regular saloon and estate, but the car looks a lot meaner thanks to the way those big alloys fill out the wheel arches. There will be larger air intakes at the front and a small spoiler and twin exhaust pipes at the back. The R36's power output and the choice of saloon and estate, puts it in a niche currently occupied only by the 3.2-litre Q4 version of the Alfa Romeo 159 and 159 Sportwagon, which makes 260bhp and costs around £30,000. It's much more driver-orientated than the Honda Accord, but far less powerful than Audi's smaller all-wheel-drive S4, let alone the RS4.
