La Lancia Delta HF Integrale 8V "Bi-Pedale" è una vettura dall'incredibile valore storico: l'unico esemplare al mondo rimasto in funzione delle sole tre realizzate con il cambio speciale Abarth. Un sistema sperimentale che prevedeva un cambio Abarth, 6 rapporti ad innesti frontali "Tipo R70", con comando elettronico della frizione, e quindi la mancanza del relativo pedale. Questa vettura è stata guidata in gara dal plurivittorioso francese Didier Auriol nel 1989 durante la terza tappa del Campionato del Mondo di Rally, ed è oggi disponibile in vendita nell'atelier di Ruote da Sogno. The Lancia Delta HF Integrale 8V "Bi-Pedale" (Two Pedals) has anincredible historical value: the only one car in the world still running of the only three built with the special Abarth gearbox. An Abarth 6-speed "Type R70" dog gearbox, with electronic clutch control, and therefore without the need for a relative cluth pedal. This car was driven in race by the victorious driver Didier Auriol in 1989 during the third stage of the World Rally Championship in Portugal, and is now available for sale in Ruote da Sogno atelier.

La competición es el campo de pruebas donde los fabricantes experimentan con avances tecnológicos que más tarde implementan en los coches de calle. En los ’80, sin embargo, el afán por la ganar trajo consigo algunos inventos aplicados al mundo de los rallyes que parecían impensables años atrás, como el Opel Kadett GSi con cuatro pedales del que hablamos hace unos días. Hoy descubrimos la curiosa historia del Lancia HF Integrale “Bi-Pedale” de 1989.

Regidos por una normativa menos estricta, los equipos trabajaban para desarrollar mecánicas más potentes y transmisiones que fueran resistentes y más rápidas. Para ello era necesario realizar algunos experimentos, como el de este Lancia Delta HF Integrale, que fue equipado con un cambio secuencial para eliminar el pedal de embrague y permitir que el piloto se centrara solo los pedales del freno y el acelerador.

El vehículo en cuestión debutó en la temporada de 1989 del Grupo A. Estaba equipado con una caja de cambios secuencial “Type R70” de seis velocidades desarrollada por Abarth, un sistema experimental dotado de un comando electrónico que mandaba la señal para accionar el cambio. Con ello, se conseguía reducir los tiempos de cambios y, por consiguiente, se mejoraba la velocidad y la aceleración, reduciendo los tiempos y permitiendo a los pilotos colocar el coche con ambos pies, una técnica muy utilizada en el Grupo A.


El Rallye de Portugal de 1989 fue el escenario elegido por Lancia para que Didier Auriol probara el primer Delta HF Integrale “Bi-Pedale”. Pero el piloto francés se vio obligado a abandonar después de sufrir un problema en el embrague y haber logrado 11 scratchs en las 28 especiales completadas hasta ese momento. El coche pasaría a manos de Grifone más tarde, donde sería pilotado por Fabrizio Tabaton y, posteriormente, por Yves Loubet.

En total se ensamblaron tres unidades y hoy solo sobrevive un ejemplar. El coche está a la venta en estos momentos a través de Route da Sogno, cuenta con certificación Abarth Classic y pasaporte FIA hasta finales de 2026. También luce los colores de Martini Racing y una configuración de asfalto. Presented as an evolution of the Delta HF 4WD at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1987, the Delta HF Integrale was renewed in some details, both stylistic and mechanical.
The new version was externally recognizable by the enlarged fenders, the new design of
bumpers and miniskirts, the front air intakes, and the engine hood and the 15" instead of 14-inch alloy wheels. The improvements made to the mechanical part, concerned suspension, braking system and engine power, a 1995cc engine that went from 165 hp to 185 hp, thanks to a Garrett T3 intercooler turbine and a renewed electronic management.


The Delta Integrale was presented by Lancia with the precise aim of winning the 1988 World Rally Championship, a direct descendant of the Delta HF 4WD, which had triumphed with Kankkunen in the 1987 edition, monopolizing the Brands and Drivers titles.

After repeating both World Rally titles also in 1988, the Delta HF Integrale "8V" (so it was unofficially renamed a posteriori), was further enhanced the following year, thanks to the introduction of the new engine with 4-valve distribution per cylinder.

At the end of his career and in 6 seasons in the World Rally Championship, the spoils collected by Delta HF Integrale in its various evolutions, counted 35 victories and 96 podiums. Before that no car could boast a Palmares of this type.
