The McLaren Senna is McLaren's most hardcore road car, but new upcoming special edition variants will take it to new extremes. Earlier this month, leaked renders and a spy photo revealed that McLaren is developing a new limited-edition model called the Senna LM that will essentially be a street-legal version of the Senna GTR track monster. Thanks to an anonymous tip sent by a reader, we can confirm this isn't the only new version of the Senna coming soon. Apparently, McLaren had 23 GTR chassis left and decided to use these to build two special-edition Senna road cars. 20 of these will be Senna LMs, will be joined by a new model called the Senna Can-Am limited to just three examples. Our source has one of them on order and has sent us all the juicy details. Like the Senna LM, the McLaren Senna Can-Am will be a street-legal version of the GTR. It's being built as a tribute to McLaren's successful Can-Am race cars that competed in the late 60's & 70's. Specifically, the Senna Can-Am is inspired by the McLaren M8B driven by Bruce McLaren that dominated the 1969 Canadian American Challenge Cup, winning all 11 races that year. Whereas the standard McLaren Senna produces 789 horsepower from a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, the Can-Am will have 25 more hp, bringing the total to 814 hp to match the GTR. This customer example is finished in special orange paint with a racing number on the hood. You can also see Bruce McLaren's signature on the rear fender. Other new exterior enhancements include a "unique louvered fender design," a new "VCF engine surround" with the MSO logo, four-spoke silver alloy wheels with polished outer rim, and four exit exhaust pipes. Inside, the interior features a bespoke black Alcantara trim with a Can-Am logo embroidered into the seat headrests, bespoke paint on the extended sills with details about the original race car's victories, a black anodized accelerator pedal with the Can-Am Logo, Liquid Silver door struts, orange door pull straps, and a badge with the car's production number. Our source tells us their Senna Can-Am is due to be delivered in two to four weeks, so an official reveal from McLaren should be imminent. Being limited to only three examples, each car costs an eye-watering $1.5 million.
