After six years and more than one million units sold, the Mercedes GLA is ready to enter its second generation with some major changes over its highly successful predecessor. At a first glance, the evolutionary styling might tempt you to believe this is more of a facelift rather than a new generation but have a look inside the cabin and you’ll begin to understand the compact crossover has gone through some major changes. For starters, the GLA’s physical dimensions have been significantly altered as the new model is 0.6 inches shorter (at 173.6 inches), yet the wheelbase has been elongated by 1.1 inches (at 107.4 inches). Perhaps more obvious is the change made to the vehicle’s height considering the new one stands 63.4 inches tall or 4.1 inches higher than before. It goes without saying the revised proportions have had an impact inside the revamped cabin where rear passengers get to enjoy extra room for their elbows, shoulders, and legs, but the headroom has taken a minor hit. Those sitting in the back can adjust the 40:20:40-split-folding seats by 5.5 inches and the backrest can also be modified to a steeper rake to make room for more voluminous cargo. Should you want something with a bit more spice, you’ll have to step up to the AMG GLA 35 model with its 302 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) from a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot. It comes exclusively with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox with 4Matic and does the sprint in five seconds en route to an electronically governed 155 mph (250 km/h). Go for an all-paw model and the new GLA will come fitted as standard with an Off-Road Engineering Package encompassing an extra driving mode, downhill assist function, an off-road animation on the screen, and even a special light function for driving off-road. In Europe, Mercedes has a more diversified GLA range with a lesser entry-level model known as the GLA 200. It uses a smaller 1.33-liter engine co-developed with Renault, rated at 161 hp and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm), and linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch auto. It will also be offered with a diesel engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain as already seen in the A250e hatchback and B250e minivan. Further down the line, AMG GLA 45 and 45 S versions will follow with 382 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) for the former and 416 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) for the latter. A neat party trick of the GLA has been carried over from the fullsize GLS. We’re talking about the car wash function, which upon activation folds the mirrors and closes all the windows, including the sunroof. In addition, the rain sensor is temporarily deactivated so that it doesn’t trigger the windshield wipers, while the climate control automatically switches to air-recirculation mode. If the vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree camera system, an image of the front is shown onto the screen to help the driver maneuver the vehicle in the car wash. The new GLA is scheduled to arrive at European dealers next spring ahead of a summer launch in the United States.
Mercedes-Benz The new Mercedes-Benz GLA (2020), the eighth model to join the line-up, rounds off the current compact car generation from Mercedes-Benz. At the same time, the new GLA represents the entry level into the brand’s successful family of SUV models. The character has been significantly reinforced here compared with the previous model: the height of the new GLA, at 1,611 millimetres (1,616 with roof rails), exceeds that of its predecessor by more than ten centimetres. The correspondingly higher and characteristic SUV seating position also comes with more headroom in the first row. Legroom in the rear is likewise much more generous – even though the GLA is now one and a half centimetres shorter. Typical off-road design features include the upright front section, short overhangs at the front and rear, and protective cladding all round. 4MATIC models feature the Off-Road Engineering Package as standard. This comprises an additional driving programme, a downhill driving assist function and an off-road animation in the media display, along with, in combination with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, a special light function for off-road driving. The new GLA makes a further step in terms of safety courtesy of its driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support. The enhanced functions of the Driving Assistance Package include, for example, the turning manoeuvre function, the emergency corridor function, the exit warning function alerting the driver to approaching cyclists or vehicles, and a warning when pedestrians are detected near zebra crossings. The GLA is able to react when the driver doesn’t. Active Brake Assist is charged in many situations with applying autonomous braking to avoid a collision or to reduce its severity. The system can also brake at a speed of up to approx. 60 km/h for stationary vehicles and pedestrians crossing the road ahead. Depending on the situation this even prevents collisions up to a speed of 50 km/h. The new GLA is set to arrive at European dealerships in the spring of 2020.

Coincido. Lo han hecho, además, mas SUV cuando tenía un encanto mas especial en su primera edición...

Exterior anodino, y el interior excesivamente recargado. El anterior me gustaba poco, pero este no hay por donde cogerlo.
Por dentro parece igual que el actual, pero por fuera es mas feo, me gustan mas las lineas del actual...
Sigo viéndole signos como de “raquitismo”....no se muy poca batalla para esa altura y poco ancho de vías para la altura....aunque la vista trasera y 3/4 lateral ha mejorado bastante. Eso si, para mi el acabado normalito del azul sin las luces led azules de puticlub....el rollo AMG y demás historias no lo veo.....
