    Los lectores entusiastas sabrán que el Porsche 911 de la serie 993 se encuentra en un lugar muy interesante en lo que respecta a la jerarquía del vehículo. Fue la última variante en usar un motor enfriado por aire, y muchos dirían que era mucho más agradable a la vista que su sucesor 996. Independientemente, Gunther Werks ha lanzado una interpretación de Speedster ultra especial del automóvil alemán.

    Como era de esperar, este ejemplo se ha modificado en gran medida para ofrecer algunas credenciales muy impresionantes en rendimiento y estética. Obviamente, a primera vista sería difícil no notar la omisión del techo, de acuerdo con el nombre de Speedster. También contribuye al chasis más rígido una nueva jaula antivuelco y un sistema de aro antivuelco para proteger a los ocupantes.

    La potencia es proporcionada por un motor de seis cilindros y 4.0 litros reconstruido por Rothsport Racing que produce aproximadamente 435 caballos de fuerza (324 kilovatios). Afortunadamente, hay mucho más en este hot rod que solo algunos ajustes exteriores y más potencia; el 993 Speedster presenta componentes de suspensión dinámica completamente nuevos proporcionados por JRZ, acompañados de montantes Eisenlohr Racing más rígidos y ligeros.

    Keen readers will know that the 993-series Porsche 911 resides in a very interesting spot when it comes to the vehicle’s hierarchy. It was the last variant to use an air-cooled engine, and many would argue that it was a lot easier on the eyes than its 996 successor. Regardless, Gunther Werks has released an ultra-special Speedster interpretation of the German automobile.

    Rather unsurprisingly, this example has been heavily modified to offer up some very impressive credentials in performance and aesthetics. Obviously, at first glance it would be hard not to notice the omission of the roof – in keeping with the Speedster name. However, while that produces a vehicle that’s tremendous to look at, it does present a number of engineering challenges.



    In combating the lower structural rigidity associated with a roof delete, GW added reinforcements in the negative space where the coupe’s rear seat compartment was previously located. Also contributing to the stiffer chassis is a new roll cage and roll hoop system to protect the occupants.

    Power is provided by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine rebuilt by Rothsport Racing which puts out roughly 435 horsepower (324 kilowatts). Thankfully there’s much more to this hot rod than just some exterior tweaks and more power; the 993 Speedster features all-new dynamic suspension components provided by JRZ, accompanied by stiffer and lighter Eisenlohr Racing uprights.


    The complete package was potent enough to set an air-cooled lap record at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Randy Pobst was behind the wheel, firing the vehicle around the 2.2-mile (3.6-kilometer) long race track in just 1 minute, 30.99 seconds. If you want to get your hands on such a machine, act fast because only 25 will be made.

    California-based Gunther Werks takes 993-series 911s and turns them into something rather more hardcore.
    Its aim is not to keep a car that looks period.
    Instead it imagines what would have happened if it went beyond-GT3.
    It pares the chassis back to its base shell, widens and stiffens it and incorporates so much carbon fibre that the finished '993 Remastered by Gunther Werks' weighs a little over 1200kg.
    Its 4.0-litre air-cooled engine makes 435bhp and prices start at a little under £400,000, plus your 993; so it’s a niche area of the sports car business, but one of the more interesting for us here at Autocar.
    It's also clearly very fast.
    Here's GT and touring car driver Randy Pobst lapping it at Laguna Seca in 1m30.99s.
    Gunther Werks says that's the fastest time ever set by an air-cooled 911 with number plates, but more significantly for us, it's almost as fast as a McLaren P1.

    As the name suggests this commission is a mix of carbon fiber & black. When looked at in natural light setting, carbon fiber has light tones of brown in its color makeup. To match that unique blend of colors we created a bespoke black paint formulated to match the carbon fiber tones. A metallic pearlescent paint, incorporating gold flakes, was created to match the color of carbon in natural light but which looks black in the shade, we have christened it “Carbon Noire”.

    The front hood, roof & ducktail are left in the exposed carbon fiber of the original panels with the rest of the car in the Carbon Noire created especially for this car. Where the carbon meets the Noire, on the roof for example, it has been hand blended by our artisans. Exposed carbon fiber details are also visible in the snorkels on the front bumper, where you will also find our new optional aluminum honeycomb mesh grill in black finish.

    Similar to the mesh used on the new factory GT cars, this is the first commission to have this new option. The car features light gold accents, a color taken from the current GT2, on the badging & engine cover complementing the car beautifully. The Brembo calipers are also painted in Noire with matching light gold logos sitting behind our 18” wheels finished in the same striking color. Featuring our, in house designed & manufactured, signature LED light bridge rear lights and black Bi LED headlights they round off the exterior of the car to give it an unmistakable night edition look.

    The interior features gloss black carbon dash, seats & rear seat delete, all topped off with luxurious light cognac aeronautical specification leather as used in Gulfstream jets. Our Alcantara steering wheel is finished off with a billet 12 O’clock Marker, as is the 5 axis milled Sport button surround & vanity plate with the commissioner’s details. Commissioned for renowned Porsche collector @garage26, this was specified in our Touring package, making it a compliant street car but also a devasting canyon carver.

    Está claro que no es un producto para meterlo exclusivamente a circuito, es un precioso restomod como los Singer o Eagle, para garajes bien surtidos y carteras abultadas, yo de ser archimillonario tendría varios de estos :finga:
