Electric Porsche Macan Spied For The First Time, Adopts A Coupe-SUV Body
BY CRISTIAN GNATICOV | POSTED ONOCTOBER 19, 2020

Much like the bigger Cayenne, the Porsche Macan will be offered in a coupe version, but unlike its flagship sibling, it will be pure electric.

Developed alongside the facelifted Macan, which will remain on the market for a few more years, the fully electric Porsche SUV makes its spy debut on a test track, in poor weather conditions and from far away.

Even so, we can see that it will feature headlights similar to the Taycan, as well as a more arched roofline behind the B pillars, which they tried masking by applying the fake trim, and an active rear wing. The back end will be different, with new graphics for the taillights and reshaped tailgate to go with the new design. As for the double tailpipes, they are fake.

Porsche appears to have added not one, but two charge ports, on each of the rear fenders. The red one is more visible on the right side, but if you zoom in on pics #3, 4, 5, 9, and 10, you will see a similar contour on the left side too.

Now, despite sharing some similarities to the ICE-powered Macans, including the name, the electric model will be based on an entirely different platform. The PPE (Premium Platform Electric) is being developed together with Audi and is said to support both low- and high-riding vehicles.

Firm details surrounding the electric powertrain are pretty much nonexistent, and while Porsche did say that they used to test a four-motor set-up, it is unknown whether the Macan EV will actually have quad motors. It might debut in the Turbo spec though, perhaps with a Turbo S variant added later on.

Production of the vehicle is understood to commence at the end of 2022, but an early premiere might be on schedule for next year.
