New Genesis G70 Eyes Germany’s Big 3 Compact Sport Sedans

A few hours after the first images of the long-awaited Genesis G70 surfaced online, the Korean sports sedan been revealed in full and is directly targeting the best Germany has to offer.
Kia Stinger and drives the performance-oriented G70 Sport, delivering 370 PS (365 hp) and 376 lb-ft of torque.

Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter turbo offers up 254 hp and 260 lb-ft and the diesel delivers 201 hp and 324 lb-ft of twisting force.

In G70 Sport guise, Genesis says the sports sedan will accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a brisk 4.7 seconds, presumably in all-wheel drive guise. For those drivers who want something a little livelier, rear-wheel drive will be available across the range. The Kia Stinger is also available in all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive configurations but hits 62 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Underpinning the G70 is the same platform as the Stinger with the sedan measuring 4,685 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,400 mm high while riding on a 2,835 mm wheelbase.

The G70 will ship with a host of technology features aimed at improving safety. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Blind Sport Collision Warning and Driver Awareness Warning. Genesis says it aims to meet the highest possible crash standards around the world.

From a design standpoint, Genesis says the G70 showcases the brand’s new styling direction and claims the sedan “captures both beauty and tension, like an athlete poised to perform.” Some of the key styling traits include the short front overhang and long hood, sharp silver wheels, prominent character lines, LED taillights and oval-shaped dual tailpipes. Compared to the Stinger, the G70’s design appears much more restrained and will perhaps appeal to a slightly older generation of buyers.

In total, ten exterior colors will be offered: Platinum Silver, Carbon Metal, Marble White, Titanium Black, Racing Gray, Graceful Gray, Lapis Blue, Royal Blue, Blazing Red and Umber Brown.

Discussing the design, head of Genesis Design Luc Donckerwolke said “At Genesis, we shape fascination and desire with the passion, dedication and talent from our designers. We modulated all parameters from the Genesis DNA to tailor a sports sedan. This challenge required the highest skills and know-how. The G70 is designed to captivate all senses with its sensuous and tensioned muscular volumes.”

In the cabin, the G70 comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen that supports MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, a 15-speaker Lexicon surround-sound system can be ordered and there are a host of luxurious surfaces and accents including aluminum door handles, quilted leather door panels, metal speaker grills and soft touch surfaces.

Details of Genesis G70 models bound for North America, Russia and the Middle East will be announced in early 2018. U.S. customers will have a chance to see it at December's LA Auto Show.

Esta guay. Pero el stinger me gusta mas.

 

Es muy chulo, por dentro me encanta y por fuera le da un pequeño aire al infiniti Q50

 

Tiene muy buena pinta.
La pantalla parece enorme para mi gusto.
De todas formas, es difícil que estas marcas le hagan daño al trío alemán...
El frontal recuerda a Infiniti.

Muy buena pinta, otra cosa es el precio que pueda llegar aquí....como se les vaya la pinza como con el Hyundai Génesis 3.8 que han vendido 2..... lo tienen muy complicado.

Yo lo veo copia del Q50. Y de hecho, sería su rival. El Q70 es un segmento superior.

Me acuerdo de cuando vendía Kia y una señora me dijo que a su hijo lo insultaban en el colegio por tener uno, como ha cambiado el cuento.

 

Veo detalles de "inspiración" en otros modelos por doquier. Aún así me gusta, y mucho. Es muy bonito, y tiene estilo

Enhorabuena por Hyundai! Es tremendo lo que están haciendo, siguen mejorando y mejorando con cada nuevo modelo, y eso hoy día es algo de lo que muy poquitas marcas puedan presumir.

 

Pero es que ese sería comparable a los Genesis superiores, no al G70. Sería como comparar un Serie 3 con un Clase E.

lo mismo he pensado yo... aunque el culo tambien me recuerda al primer serie 1 coupe

 

Ese coche lleva algo de muuuuchos coches como faros del giulia, capó aston martin, interir m.b. trasera serie 2 o 1 coupe, parilla audi y mucho más....

Es basicamente lo mismo, pero vestido por Kia, tambien con trozos de otros coches

 

Este es anterior, no? Si es basicamente el mismo es que el Genesis tiene trozos de este. Se prodria decir que el G70 es lo mismo vestido por Genesis...

 

Joe, pues a simple vista me parecía más grande el Kia. Parece de un segmento superior, tipo Serie 5 y compañía.
