Tuning del BMW M2: bajada y ensanchamiento de ruedas de H&R

En realidad, no se sospecha que el nuevo BMW M2 (G87) tenga las piernas especialmente largas de fábrica. Sin embargo, una reducción es una prioridad para muchos clientes, ya que una mayor proximidad al asfalto normalmente no perjudica poco la idoneidad para el uso diario, y la dinámica de conducción se beneficia naturalmente del centro de gravedad aún más bajo y de la reducción de la tendencia a rodar. El efecto visual probablemente sea al menos igual de importante para muchos clientes de H&R, porque la reducción hace que el deportivo compacto parezca un poco más deportivo y las llantas también destacan aún mejor.




En concreto, los muelles roscados de H&R, ahora disponibles, rebajan el nuevo BMW M2 hasta 35 milímetros en la parte delantera y trasera. The latest addition to the #builtbypsi G87 M2 build process made its highly-anticipated debut at the 2023 SEMA show, featured in the Moton AST Suspension booth. This new stage in the build brings a multitude of both performance and aesthetic enhancements that help highlight the widebody nature of the factory body and push the chassis to the next level.



One of the standout features of this remarkable build is the previously released Akrapovič Full Titanium exhaust system, complete with Carbon TI Octagonal tips provided by Turn14 Distribution. This exhaust not only exudes a powerful roar but also sheds significant weight, contributing to improved performance. The distinct acoustics and the visual appeal of the exhaust tips are bound to turn heads.



For suspension, the addition of Moton Suspension One-Ways takes the G87 M2's handling and performance to new heights. These coilovers allow the stiff chassis to be put to the test while taking on both the street and the track.



The Vorsteiner GTE-352 Wheels have been a staple aspect of the M2. Their aggressive design and strong construction not only enhance the vehicle's appearance but also contribute to its dynamic prowess on the road. The Inozetek Amethyst Ash Wrap, which was released at this year's SEMA, helped highlight the body lines and paired perfectly with the carbon from ADRO. This wrap was meticulously installed by Guardian Wraps in Orlando and included all door jams allowing for that total color change.






Under the hood, the M2 features the Eventuri Full Gloss Carbon Intake, CSF Radiators Full G8x Cooling Line, and a Dahler Germany Tuning Box. This combination helps unleash additional horsepower and torque, taking the driving experience to the next level. These components, in combination with others in the build, make the G87 M2 a powerhouse on the road.



The meticulous attention to detail continues with components like the Kies Motorsports Carbon Adjustable Strut Brace, Motorsport Hardware Stud Conversion, Motorsport Plus DRL Module, and Low Glow Shop Underglow for added flair. The Titan 7 Titanium Nuts further contribute to the build's lightweight and performance-oriented nature.


The G87 underwent a brake system enhancement featuring a trio of high-performance components: PSI Dustless Brake Pads, PSI Stainless Brake Lines, and Tarox Two Piece rotors. This meticulous upgrade not only ensures superior and consistent braking performance but also delivers a remarkable balance between precision and efficiency across a wide range of driving conditions.



The interior is upgraded with a Future Classic Short Shifter and AutoID Alcantara Steering Wheel that adds comfort, style, and functionality. BMW M2 Gets Mean Attitude From AC Schnitzer For Essen Motor Show

Before BMW comes out with the M2 CS in 2025, you can count on the tuning scene to work on the G87 and give it a meaner attitude. AC Schnitzer previewed its aftermarket kit tailored to the rear-wheel-drive machine back in August and it’s now presenting the whole shebang. Celebrating its public debut in early December at the 2023 Essen Motor Show, the red-hot coupe looks the part with all these mods.


The German tuner worked its magic on the second-generation M2 by developing a full body kit that actually serves a functional purpose, aside from making the baby M look aggressive. The newly designed front splitter adds a substantial 60 kilograms (132 pounds) of downforce compared to the standard car. At the rear, the carbon wing adds 25 kg (55 lbs) to keep the entry-level M model glued to the road. A gurney for that big rear wing adds another 5 kg (11 lbs) of rear downforce for a grand total of 80 kg (176 lbs) more than what the standard M2 has to offer.



AC Schnitzer also worked on the exhaust system by adding carbon finishers and a flap control system to alter the soundtrack on the fly. Elsewhere, a new coilover suspension developed in-house can be adjusted to drop the car by 25-35 mm at the front axle and by 20-30 mm at the rear. Alternatively, you can opt for a custom suspension spring set that lowers the ride height by 20-25 mm front and 15-20 mm rear.


Shown here in Techgold, the forged wheels can also be had in glossy black and measure 20 inches front and 21 inches rear. AC Schnitzer fits 285/30 R20 and 295/25 R21 tires, respectively. You can also opt for a different set of wheels measuring 20 inches at both axles, offered with anthracite, glossy black, and silver anthracite finishes. Should you want to shave off some weight, the more expensive forged ones are up to 35% lighter than a regular cast wheel.

A power bump isn’t available yet, but AC Schnitzer says it is currently testing an upgraded S58 on the dyno. In stock form, the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six produces 453 hp and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft). Later in 2024, BMW is expected to add 20 hp for a total of 473 hp. As for the aforementioned M2 CS, it’ll supposedly have around 500 hp or even more.

Revisión del BMW M2 COTY 2023: tan agradable que compitió dos veces

Esta revisión se realizó como parte de nuestra prueba de Auto del Año 2024 (COTY), donde cada vehículo se evalúa según nuestros seis criterios clave: eficiencia, diseño, seguridad, excelencia en ingeniería, valor y desempeño de la función prevista. Los vehículos elegibles deben ser completamente nuevos o revisados significativamente.




Los lectores exigentes recordarán el BMW Serie 2 que compitió en el evento Coche del Año del año pasado , y también recordarán que el M2 de gama alta no estaba disponible hace 12 meses. Con el estándar 2 lo suficientemente bueno como para llegar a la ronda finalista y a unos pocos votos de ganarlo todo, era apropiado que evaluáramos la versión más hot-rod de todos ellos para ver si podía llegar a la cima.


No tiene sentido hacer esta pregunta con respecto a toda la gama del Serie 2 en cualquiera de los eventos COTY, pero con respecto al M2 de este año, la respuesta es "casi". El M2 es el mejor coche deportivo que fabrica BMW . Puede que no sea el auto de pista más rápido ni el mejor, pero es el mejor si se considera lo fabuloso que es conducirlo y que todavía se ofrece con transmisión manual. Como coche para conducir, es superlativo. El agarre en las curvas es fenomenal y, si bien tiene potencia suficiente para hacer estallar los neumáticos traseros, la linealidad y el control fino disponibles a través del acelerador significan que puedes caminar al borde de la adherencia sin miedo. Gire el M2 exactamente tanto o tan poco como desee; el coche es masilla en tus manos.

Es cierto que esa palanca de cambios manual todavía tiene la goma habitual de BMW, pero las puertas están bien definidas y los recorridos son cortos. Por su parte, la transmisión automática de ocho velocidades disponible nunca te deja deseando un doble embrague a toda velocidad. Ni los frenos ni los neumáticos delanteros parecen rendirse nunca, por lo que puedes conducir el M2 tan fuerte como quieras hasta que hayas agotado toda la goma.

Quizás lo más destacable sea la calidad de marcha. Los autos tan buenos en una pista generalmente conducen terriblemente, pero no es necesario. BMW solía ser famoso por equilibrar hábilmente la capacidad de tomar curvas y la habitabilidad, y el M2 demuestra que todavía tiene acceso a esta magia oscura . El Serie 2 con motor M se conduce firme, como lo hacen los autos deportivos, pero los impactos nunca son duros ni castigadores. No es necesario ser masoquista para conducir este coche todos los días.

Sin embargo, debes estar dispuesto a aceptar algunos compromisos. Técnicamente, los adultos caben en los asientos traseros, pero deben ser bajos y estar dispuestos a encorvarse, y sólo para viajes cortos. Entre el ahorro de combustible del auto deportivo y el pequeño tanque de gasolina, de todos modos no realizarás viajes largos por carretera. Muchos vehículos eléctricos modernos llegan más lejos con una carga completa que un M2 con el depósito lleno.

Por lo demás, este BMW cumple bastante bien con nuestros criterios. Intente encontrar uno con mejor rendimiento a este precio. Su desempeño de la función prevista y su excelencia en ingeniería están fuera de serie. Los avances en el diseño son más difíciles de vender, ya que los detalles cuadrados delanteros y traseros resultaron controvertidos entre los jueces. La seguridad es aún más difícil, ya que incluso las funciones básicas son opcionales. Pero hombre, ¿lo has conducido?

Hace un par de semanas pude conducir de nuevo un F87 y tras haber conducido también varios G87 tanto manuales como automaticos, el F87 se siente un "juguete" y no en el buen sentido de la palabra.

Sin duda se percibe más reactivo y compacto, pero la sensación comparativa es que el F87 es un compacto deportivo y el G87 es un deportivo-deportivo (ojo no digo que lo sea, solo como se siente en comparación). Este último se siente ancho, asentado, aplomado, tiene una pisada mucho más "compleja", un eje delantero más directo y sujeto, una postura de conducción mucho más baja (cuando me subí en el F87 tras bastante tiempo sin subirme en uno me sorprendio no poder bajar más la banqueta)....

Sin duda el F87 tiene la ventaja de esas dimensiones más contenidas en carreteras secundarías. Sobre el peso, es lo que dice Harris, no sabría decir qque el G87 es más pesado...
