Two extreme sports cars go head-to-head in a lap time comparison on the Nordschleife in the sport auto Supertest: The Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) competes against the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series – both driven by sport auto test driver Christian Gebhardt, who has been responsible for the Supertest since 2015 and has clocked lap times on the Nordschleife in over 130 cars. Christian Gebhardt has also competed in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring 20 times in a row since 2007.
The result of this head-to-head comparison? In the Supertest, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS completed a lap of the legendary Nordschleife in an impressive 6.54.99 minutes. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is even slightly faster, with a lap time of 6.52.54 minutes.
Both extreme sports cars are fitted with special Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R semi-slicks – the AMG GT Black Series in the special MO1A specification, the Porsche in the N0 specification. This ensures a comparable and fair duel on the world’s most demanding race track.
With a track length of over 20 kilometres, significant elevation changes and blind crests, the Nordschleife is the ultimate test track for any sports car. Both Nordschleife lap times under 7 minutes impressively prove that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) and Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series are playing in the Champions League of sports cars.
