Welcoming a new era in its history, TVR has unveiled its all new sports car, the TVR Griffith, at the Goodwood Revival. Revealed to media and visitors, the Griffith is the first new TVR to be launched since the company was resurrected in British hands. The new Griffith stays true to the brand’s rich heritage, while employing cutting-edge engineering. The exterior has been designed to be as striking as it is aerodynamically efficient. The timeless sports car silhouette is accented with deep air intakes, generating high levels of downforce and cooling. Embodying TVR’s long-standing ethos of the Sprit of Driving – the principle of delivering an involving driving interface where the driver will always be fully in control – the new Griffith uses intelligent engineering over electronic driver aids. Only the second front-engined production car to feature a flat floor, the new TVR Griffith boasts a full ground-effect aerodynamic package to ensure that the car remains stable at high speeds and delivers exceptional handling abilities. Employing Gordon Murray Design’s innovative iStream architecture with carbon composite structure and body panels, the new TVR Griffith weighs just 1250kg, offers exceptional torsional rigidity and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution. Powering the new TVR Griffith is a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre Cosworth-enhanced V8, which enables 400bhp/tonne and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The new TVR Griffith achieves a top speed of more than 200mph, and accelerates from 0-60mph in less than four seconds. Les Edgar said: “Today’s unveiling is the culmination of nearly three years of tireless work by the team, and we’re all proud to be able to show the new TVR Griffith to the world. This is unmistakably a TVR, a British muscle car that’s as awesome and brutal as it is charismatic and refined. Importantly, the new TVR offers levels of technical sophistication, comfort, reliability and practicality never seen by the brand before.” The new TVR Griffith unveiled to the public today is presented in Launch Edition specification, which includes a full leather interior and custom alloy wheels, as well as Launch Edition paint options and a bespoke infotainment system. Starting from £90,000, production of the new TVR Griffith Launch Edition will begin in late 2018. TVR is also previewing the new Griffith in a striking pace car livery, signalling the brand’s intention to return to the racetracks of the world in the very near future.

Sea como fuere, 1.250 kg. Me da lo mismo 400 que 500.

 

El Tuscan tenía su punto, a mi me gusta, pero es cierto que este va por otro camino estético

 

Ya, decían que rondaría los 500cv, pero con ese peso ya le llega con 400

Sí. Extrema.

 

Demasiado "japo" para mi gusto en cuanto a la estética.
Mecánicamente tiene buena pinta.

 

Si es TVR me encanta. Hay informaciones controvertidas sobre la potencia. Lleeva el 5.0 V8 del Mustang.
Coche no apto para conductores babiecas (95%...por lo menos) ni para conductores de foro, de esos a los que se les llena la boca de segundos.

 

Sí....unas buenas cachas a tu lado. Duras.

 

Cinco botones, tres para la cale. Y ya me parecen muchos. Tanto botón, tanta wifi y tanta mierda. Suerte que sigue habiendo fabricantes así.

En este coche, sí.

 

Cuando lei de este proyecto tenia claro que de ser un millonario seria mi coche.

El disenio final no me entusiasma pero el resto me gusta mucho y por concepto es sin duda el tipo de coche que me gusta....un coche para disfrutarlo en carretera cada km y no para hacer "laptimes".

Me encanta el coche, no sólo el concepto, la estética es fantástica. Espero que tengan éxito en su nueva andadura.

 

Pues no sé si será para hacer lap-times o no.....pero la mano de Gordon Murray se nota y mucho en muchos aspectos.....he estado leyendo un dossier en Inglés sobre el Griffith(lo han debido de descolgar de la red porque no lo encuentro....igual era "fisgado/filtrado"....) y el coche usa una mezcla de aceros de alta resistencia y carbono en el chasis(patentado por Murray) para garantizar el 50/50 a pesar de su planteamiento mecánico....pero es que además, tiene los escapes ahí delante precisamente para tener un suelo plano y garantizar una sustentación aerodinámica de primer nivel.....todo el aire atraviesa limpiamente los bajos sin siquiera interferencia de los escapes y el flujo va estudiadamente canalizado al difusor trasero.

El coche debe estar bastante más elaborado de lo que aparenta a nivel chasis/mecánico/aerodinámico.....Una gran apuesta de TVR.

 

Al que no le guste que no se precoupe,ya me lo quedo yo.

 

Nunca he visto un TVR en directo que yo recuerde, pero sin duda parecen coches especiales.

 

En cuanto vi que había metido mano Gordon Murray, sabía que no hablábamos de un coche cualquiera. Seguro que va a dar que hablar, porque además de todo lo que comentas, es muy ligero.

TVR has pulled the covers off their long-awaited new Griffith at the Goodwood Revival.
TVR is looking ahead, while respecting the brand’s 70-year-long history.

First the numbers: a Ford-sourced 5.0-liter V8 tuned by Cosworth produces around 500hp in a car that weighs just 1,250kg (2,755lbs). Weight distribution is a perfect 50-50, with TVR also achieving its main target, which was to offer a 400hp/tonne power-to-weight ratio.

Zero to 62mph (100km/h) comes in less than four seconds while top speed is a quoted at ‘over 200mph’ (321km/h). A Tremec Magnum XL six-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission option.

Measuring 4314mm long, 1850mm wide and 1239mm tall, the new TVR Griffith is not only smaller than a Porsche 911, it’s also more compact than a Jaguar F-Type. The chassis utilizes Gordon Murray’s iStream process, meaning inner carbon-fiber panels bonded onto a steel frame, which gives it impressive rigidity. The bodywork is also made out of carbon-fiber, keeping weight in check.

The new TVR Griffith also features a completely flat floor which is claimed to give the car full ground effect aero. Up front there’s a deep splitter, while at the back lies an integrated and rather large diffuser.

The interior adopts a simple layout, with few buttons and a portrait-style infotainment system, specifically designed for the Griffith. A digital instrument cluster is also present, completing the picture of a no-nonsense driver-centric environment.

“This is the culmination of nearly three years of tireless work and we’re all proud as punch,” said Les Edgar, TVR boss. “The Griffith is unmistakably a TVR, a British muscle car that’s as awesome and brutal as it is charismatic and refined.”

The first 500 cars will be badged as Launch Editions and will come finished in special configurations, with bespoke colors. Prices for the TVR Griffith Launch Edition start at under £90,000. The first production cars are expected to reach their owners in the first quarter of 2019.

Todavía sigo sin creerme que hayan utilizado un V8 de 5 litros atmosférico en vez del típico motor pequeño turboalimentado. Lloro de la emoción de que todavía queden fabricantes así.
