Partiendo de la base del 335i (306 CV), BMW ha añadido un motor eléctrico con 54 CV de potencia adicionales, si bien el total combinado de ambos a pleno rendimiento es de 340 CV. Según declara BMW esta versión puede moverse hasta los 60 km/h sin que el motor de combustión tenga que trabajar. La batería está situada en el maletero y resta cierta capacidad dejando un volumen máximo de 390 litros. No es un mucho para una berlina media.

La gama española queda articulada en cuatro variantes:

Estéticamente los ActiveHybrid 3 reciben pequeñas diferencias en la relación a los térmicos convencionales, con mejoras aerodinámicas, llantas de aleación específicas y el logo "ActiveHybrid" en el pilar C.

BMW has released new details about the ActiveHybrid 3.

Designed for eco-friendly driving enthusiasts, the model is distinguished by special badging, matte chrome exhaust tips and satin-finish accents. Customers can also order 18-inch Streamline wheels which have an aerodynamic design for improved efficiency.

Interior changes are limited, but include special door sill plates and an ActiveHybrid badge on the gearshift surround. Unfortunately, the car's battery pack reduces the cargo capacity to 390 liters (13.7 cubic feet) which is 90 liters (3.1 cubic feet) less than the standard model.

Motivation is provided by a 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and a 55 PS (40 kW / 54 hp) electric motor. This enables the model to have a combined output of 340 PS (250 kW / 335 hp) which allows the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. In terms of efficiency, owners can expect to average 5.9 L/100km (47.9 mpg UK / 39.8 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.

To get these impressive figures, the ActiveHybrid 3 is equipped with an Eco Pro system which cuts off the petrol engine during coasting at speeds up to 160 km/h (100 mph). Additionally, the model can travel on electricity alone for up to 4 km (2.5 miles) at speeds up to 75 km/h (46 mph)

In order to exploit the potential of the BMW ActiveHybrid technology, the intelligent energy management of the power electronics uses a host of innovative functions to ensure the drive system runs efficiently.

Charging of the high-performance battery primarily takes place during coasting or braking, the electric motor performing the role of a generator feeding energy into the high-voltage battery. By contrast, under acceleration the electric motor takes on a boost function. Here, it assists the petrol engine by generating an ultra-dynamic burst of power, lending the Sedan's sporty driving experience a sharper edge.

Moreover, while coasting at speeds of up to 160 km/h (100 mph) in ECO PRO mode, the combustion engine can be switched off and fully decoupled. This coasting mode combines comfortable driving with optimum utilisation of the kinetic energy already generated. To avoid periods with the engine running at idle at junctions or in traffic tailbacks, the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 deploys its hybrid start-stop function. Plus, the power electronics can be intelligently linked up with the navigation system Professional (optional on the ActiveHybrid 3). This allows for proactive analysis of the driving situation, enabling the drive components to be primed to deliver maximum efficiency (the effect may vary according to the quality of the available navigation data).

Design: sporty elegance with individual accents.
The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 sees the sporty yet elegant body design of the BMW 3 Series Sedan complemented by bespoke touches which highlight its innovative drive technology. The "ActiveHybrid 3" lettering on the C-pillars and at the rear, along with the matt chrome exhaust tailpipes, set the exterior apart from the other models in the range. Further accents come courtesy of the standard satin-finish window surrounds and the BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow features in the side graphic.

Es sencillo: yo no quiero ahorrar, yo quiero disfrutar. Y eso lo hago conduciendo a todas horas. Pero gastar 20 litros en ciudad acaba quemando. BMW nos trae la solución :xray:

El precio es un gran handicap.
Pero los del grupo PSA esta en los 40 y tantos y estan "ofreciendo" 200cv's

La filosofia no es el ahorro a toda costa. Es mas bien como lo hace Lexus, potenciando un motor de rodadura finura y prestaciones (por ejemplo un V8 en el RX)

Porque la conducción en ciudad es lo que más penaliza a este tipo de motores gordos (un yanki se partiría de risa al oir lo de motor gordo en un 3 litros biggrin). Híbrido para ciudad y motor gordo para poder ir a 250kms/h en autobahn.

Añado que el consumo medio del ActiveHybrid 3 es de 5,9 l/100 km frente a los 7,9 l/100km del 335i F30

PD: Además de que el ActiveHybrid 3 se pueda equipar las distintas líneas ( Luxury, Modern, Sport ), también se permite configurarlo con el paquete M
