The 2024 Ferrari Purosangue has everything you would expect of an SUV from the Italian marque. It looks beautiful (as far as SUVs go), has a high-revving and naturally-aspirated V12, promises potent performance, and has a cabin clad in nothing but the finest materials. It also has a price tag very fitting of a Ferrari.
While Ferrari has already disclosed how much the Purosangue will cost in various markets, it has only just now revealed that it will set back U.S. buyers $398,350. That figure includes a $5,000 destination charge but does not include the gas-guzzler tax. Speaking with Car and Driver, Ferrari said this tax is still yet to be determined.
A vehicle’s gas guzzler tax is determined based on its official fuel economy rating which, in the case of the Purosangue, has not been announced by the EPA. Alternatively, it’s possible the Purosangue could be exempt from the tax if the U.S. classifies it as a sport utility vehicle.
A near-$400,000 starting price makes the Ferrari Purosangue nearly twice as expensive as a Lamborghini Urus that starts at around $225,000. That’s a staggering price discrepancy with what could be considered the Purosangue’s closest rival but doesn’t come as much of a surprise. In the UK, the Ferrari starts at £313,120 (~$376,000), considerably more than the £177,000 (~$213,000) starting price of the Urus and the £160,000 (~$192,000) starting price of an Aston Martin DBX.
Then there’s the issue of optional extras. Ferrari is known for charging eye-watering sums for certain options. Indeed, we suspect it’ll be quite easy for shoppers to spec out their Purosangue SUVs to cost more than $500,000.
For that money, they will get something that SUVs from rivals don’t offer; a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12. This engine pumps out 715 hp and 528 lb-ft (715 Nm) and is coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power through all four wheels.

Uno de los grandes secretos del primer SUV de Ferrari es su precio. O era. La marca italiana ha desvelado cuánto costará el Ferrari Purosangue en Estados Unidos… y la cifra está a la altura de lo esperado. No sólo costará, prácticamente, el doble que sus rivales, sino que con los gastos de entrega podrías comprarte un coche de segunda mano.
Tal y como ha desvelado Ferrari a Car and Driver, el Ferrari Purosangue costará 398.350 dólares: 374.488 euros, según el cambio actual. Eso sí, esta no será la cifra final, puesto que hay que sumarle los 5.000 euros procedentes de los gastos de entrega: una cifra que está entre las más elevadas de la industria. Hablaríamos, por lo tanto, de 403.350 dólares.
¿Por qué es más caro que sus rivales?
¿Nos sirve este dato para hacernos una idea de lo que costará en Europa? Es una primera pista: los precios pueden diferir y, además, hay que tener en cuenta el cambio dólar-euro. Las primeras apuestas dan por hecho que, en el Viejo Continente, el Ferrari Purosangue tendrá un precio en torno a los 400.000 euros.
Estaríamos hablando de un precio ampliamente superior al de sus rivales más directos. El Aston Martin DBX arranca en 210.000 euros y el Bentley Bentayga hace lo propio en 217.200 euros. Si hablamos del Rolls-Royce Cullinan nos moveremos en cifras que parten de los 280.000 euros, mientras que el Lamborghini Urus es el que más se acerca al Ferrari Purosangue: la versión S tiene un precio de salida de 265.443 euros y la Performante de 296.596 euros.

Para nosotros si, pero para la mayoría el Purosangue será el SUV Ferrari, que compite con Urus el SUV Lambo, Cayenne el SUV Porsche DBX el SUV Aston, Cullinam el SUV Rolls y Bentayga el SUV Bentley... eso es así como que han tragado con los coupés de 5 puertas y cosas peores.

In this review we get our hands on the new Ferrari Purosangue - Ferrari’s first four door and also the Maranello manufacturer’s first full four seater. However, it’s not an SUV like the Aston Martin’s DBX, Porsche Cayenne or Lamborghini Urus. Not according to Ferrari, anyway. So, what is it? Henry Catchpole drives the new V12 in the mountains of northern Italy to try to decipher exactly what the Purosangue is all about. In the end he decides that all that really matters is not boot space or leg room or the fantastic new Burmester stereo, it’s whether it still has the feel of a Ferrari. Is it just an example of badge engineering or is there real substance to it? The spec sheet would certainly seem to suggest that it’s the latter. A monstrous 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 makes the Purosangue unique in the segment and it sounds utterly glorious - particularly when hammering through the avalanche tunnels running alongside a frozen mountain lake. On days like these… But it’s not just the engine which is interesting, there is also the new active suspension. Developed by Multimatic, the True Active Spool Valve technology has (in theory) allowed Ferrari to tune the ride of the car independent of the handling. This means that for every stage of the Manettino there are also up to three options for the firmness of the suspension. It’s clever stuff and rather beautiful when you see what’s hiding in the arches. Finally in this episode of The Driver’s Seat, there is a quick look back at Ferrari’s history because although this is the first production four door in the company’s history, there was a concept in 1980 called the Ferrari Pinin that was designed by Pininfarina and had Enzo Ferrari’s blessing. What’s more, there is a nice link between that four door concept and the new production car. We hope you all enjoy watching this review. Es, seguramente, uno de los Ferrari más especiales en los 75 años de historia de la marca italiana. El Purosangue es el primer SUV salido de la fábrica de Maranello... aunque allí nadie quiera definirlo así. Para Ferrari es un deportivo... y prometieron que cuando lo probásemos, entenderíamos el por qué. Bueno, pues ya lo hemos probado... y no se equivocaban.Para lograr emociones similares a la de las berlinettas tradicionales de Ferrari, el Purosangue acude a dos elementos clave: el motor V12 atmosférico de 725 CV (es el SUV más potente del mundo) y una nueva y sofisiticada suspensión activa que permite tener un coche cómodo y rabiosamente deportivo... en un mismo cuerpo.
