Harley-Davidson Project LiveWire revealed as their first electric motorcycle
Company has no plans for production, as of yet
Electric motorcycles have largely been a novelty but Harley-Davidson is throwing their weight behind the idea with Project LiveWire.
Destined to become the company's first electric motorcycle, Project LiveWire was created to gain "insight into rider expectations" of an electric Harley-Davidson. As part of this initiative, select consumers will be offered the chance to ride the model and provide feedback on it.
The company didn't have much to say about the bike itself but they noted it will offer a "visceral riding experience with tire-shredding acceleration and an unmistakable new sound." The model also has an LED headlight, a touchscreen display and a lightweight frame.
In a statement, Harley-Davidson COO Matt Levatich said "America at its best has always been about reinvention and, like America, Harley-Davidson has reinvented itself many times in our history, with customers leading us every step of the way. Project LiveWire is another exciting, customer-led moment in our history."
