The Alfa and BWM share the same ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission and nearly identical power outputs just a tick beyond the 500-hp mark. Pricing—both starting and as tested—parallel each other, as well. BMW requires $73,795 for the basest of the base M3 Comp, while Alfa demands $76,095 to get things started with its arrabbiata Quad. Our test-car examples sit at a hefty $93,945 for the Italian and $97,645 for the bright yellow German, so ignite your checkbook if you want to re-create our pairing. This comparison test is a meeting of technical equals with only a few minor exceptions, at least if you limit your afternoon reading exclusively to our spec charts that follow in this piece. The first ever BMW M Series motorcycle made was and still is the BMW M 1000 RR and it’s truly a sight to behold. Powerful, agile and looking especially good in those M colors, the M 1000 RR is also incredibly fast. Therefore, the guys from BMW M wanted to make sure it goes up against something just as exciting in a new series showcasing brothers fighting on track. The weapon of choice was a BMW M3 Competition, a car that dared to take on a superbike on the track. In terms of specs, things don’t look too good for the car here. Sure, the M3 Competition does have 503 HP and a lot of torque to go with it, but it also tips the scale over 3,890 lbs. On the other hand, the M 1000 RR has 205 HP, 83 lb-ft of torque and a curb weight of just 423 lbs. Therefore, the power to weight ratio is definitely in favor of the bike. 2021 BMW M3 Competition G80 review 7 jul 2021 The new BMW M3, the G80, is a car that needs to live up to very high standards. And it does, in spite of the fact that it's now got a torque converter automatic gearbox (instead of the older car's DCT) and the extra 100 or so kilograms that it has over its predecessor. (as well as a bigger overall footprint) It still feels like an M car and you are enticed to drive it briskly whenever you are in the driver's seat. All in all, it's a great car. It may or may not be the most engaging M3 ever (it probably isn't), but you will have a lot of fun owning one...
