What distinguishes the E92 M3 Frozen Black and Frozen Grey editions?
Production of the E92 M3 Frozen Black edition initially began in April of 2010 under BMW Individual internal code KA355. In addition to the Frozen Black paint (Black Sapphire metallic with a dull clearcoat), the Frozen Black edition included 19-inch forged M Double Spoke alloy wheels (Style 220M) painted Jet Black, red brake calipers and Black extended Novillo leather upholstery with Mugello Red contrast stitching. Production of the KA355 edition lasted just three months, during which time 27 examples were produced in total (for Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Latin America, the UK, Australia, South Africa, Singapore and Canada).
The KA355 edition was then replaced by the KA373 edition in September of 2010. This retained all the equipment of the earlier Frozen Black edition but supplemented it with a "black chrome metal effect" front grille, side gills and exhaust tips. Furthermore, the KA373 edition was also produced in Frozen Grey metallic (Space Grey metallic with a dull clearcoat) and offered with the optional Competition Package, in which case the Y-spoke alloy wheels (Style 359M) were painted matte black. A total of 263 examples of the Frozen Black edition (version KA373) were produced, mainly for Germany, China, Latin America, the UK, Australia, South Africa (where it included AC Schnitzer software, air intake and exhaust) the USA and Canada. In addition, 209 examples of the Frozen Grey edition were produced, mainly for Germany, the Netherlands (where it was known as the M3 Track Edition and included a BMW Performance exhaust, carbon fiber splitters and carbon fiber mirror caps), China, Latin America, the UK, Australia and Hong Kong. (Canada received just one Frozen Grey edition example, the only one produced for North America, while the USA received its own unique Frozen Grey M3 see M3 "National Edition" chart above.)
